The HOBBYWING Platinum 50A V3 is a brushless electronic speed controller for fixed-wing and helicopter model aircraft. It combines motor control with an integrated switch-mode BEC whose output voltage is selectable through software at 5.2V, 6.0V or 7.4V, with 7A continuous output and up to 15A momentary output. The controller accepts 2-6S LiPo batteries and is rated for 50A continuous and 75A peak motor current. Four flight modes provide fixed-wing operation and helicopter operation with the governor disabled, in Elf mode or in store mode.
Installation must accommodate the 48.0x30.0x15.5mm controller, its 49g weight and its attached wiring. The power wiring comprises one red and one black 14AWG lead, each 100MM long, with no power connector fitted. Three black 14AWG motor leads are each 75MM long and use 3.5 mm female gold connectors. Adjustable throttle range supports setup, while selectable autorotation restart timing allows the operator to interrupt an autorotation landing and restart the motor quickly. Protection functions cover abnormal input voltage, low battery voltage, overheating and loss of the throttle signal.
A dedicated programming port provides access for parameter adjustment and also serves as a serial output for real-time controller operating data. Programming is supported through a transmitter, LCD programming box or WiFi Express wireless module; LED setting cards and LED programming boxes are unsupported. Online firmware upgrades require the multifunction LCD professional programming box. Real-time monitoring and recording through the serial data interface require a data transmission module, making that module a specific integration requirement for those functions.
