Product overview

The GEPRC RAD VTX 5.8G 1.6W is a video transmitter for aircraft camera integration, with selectable PIT, 25mW, 200mW, 600mW and 1600mW settings. It supports PAL and NTSC video, while a built-in microphone transmits aircraft sound in real time. IRC Tramp control supports parameter adjustment through the OSD, with the IRC connection routed to a flight controller UART TX port. Two buttons provide identical controls, and separate blue, green and red indicators show channel, band and power status.

Its double-layer PCB separates the power supply from the main board to reduce interference and improve heat dissipation. The module measures 36×36.5×5.5mm and weighs 9.7g without cable, defining the board space and mass required for installation. Mounting dimensions are inconsistent: the specifications give 30X30mm with M3 hardware, while the feature description gives 30.5×30.5mm. Power input is DC 7–36V from a 2–8S battery, and the camera supply is rated at 5V@600mA. The antenna interface is MMCX.

The supplied configuration comprises the transmitter, a 72mm MMCX copper tube antenna, a GH 1.25*6P 150mm connecting cable, an MMCX-to-SMA adapter with a female center contact, and matching screws. Installation requires the antenna to be connected before use and constant airflow in a well-ventilated environment; confined installations require a cooling fan. Temperature protection is included, but these cooling requirements still apply. The 5V output is restricted to camera or cooling-fan use, and connecting battery power to it causes serious transmitter damage.
