Company overview

Livox is an independent company founded in 2016 through DJI's internal incubation mechanism. It develops 3D LiDAR sensors for autonomous driving, mobile robotics, surveying and smart cities. Its documented products include Mid-40, Mid-70, Avia, Horizon and Tele-15, all discussed in its October 2020 product announcement, and Mid-360, featured in a March 2026 drone application.

Introduced in October 2020, Mid-70 supports near-field perception for low-speed autonomous systems such as service robots, delivery vehicles and autonomous minibuses. It has a 70.4-degree field of view in both horizontal and vertical directions, a 5-centimeter near-field blind zone and detection up to 260 meters at 80% reflectivity. Multiple units can be combined to extend coverage around a vehicle. Avia, introduced alongside Mid-70, weighs 498 grams and supports repetitive and non-repetitive scanning, triple returns and a point-cloud data rate of 240,000 points per second. Its range reaches up to 450 meters in low-light conditions such as overcast skies or nighttime. A built-in IMU supplies spatial pose and acceleration data for subsequent processing. Its applications include aerial and mobile surveying, power-line inspection and forestry mapping. Horizon and Tele-15 were introduced earlier in 2020 for high-speed autonomous driving.

Mid-360 provides perception for SUPER, a drone system developed by the University of Hong Kong's MaRS laboratory. The team's reported results include autonomous flight at more than 20 meters per second in unknown environments, detection and avoidance of thin obstacles such as wires, and autonomous navigation in darkness.
