The SIYI MS4525 Airspeed Sensor is a digital airspeed module for fixed-wing UAVs and VTOL drones. It measures aircraft speed relative to the surrounding airflow, providing information that helps prevent stalls. Its included Pitot tube directs total and static pressure from the airflow into the sensor so that airspeed can be determined. The module can be used with any flight controller running ArduPilot or PX4 firmware. It also measures air temperature, with temperature readings available for viewing on a ground station.
The MS4525 has a maximum measurable pressure of 1 psi, corresponding to an approximate airspeed of 100 m/s, 360 km/h, or 223 mph. Its pressure resolution is 0.84 Pa, and it transmits data with 14-bit precision from a 24-bit delta-sigma ADC. These specifications describe a pressure-based airspeed measurement: the sensor measures movement relative to the airflow, rather than speed over the ground.
