The Scorpion HKIV-4025 Shaft Kit (6mm 28mm) is a factory replacement shaft kit for HKIV-4025 helicopter motors, specially sized for SAB Goblin 570 and Kraken 580 helicopters. It serves motor maintenance or a change in shaft size for a particular model. The series uses 8mm hardened steel shafts, while this shaft has a pinion end ground down to 6mm with a flat for fitting the required gears. Its integration role is within the helicopter motor and gear interface.
Installation requires attention to the motor housing: the shaft is a slight press fit in the aluminum front housing and will not slide free after the set screws are removed. Removal requires an arbor press, with the front housing supported in a wood block to prevent warping. The shaft can be shortened with a Dremel tool and cut-off wheel if necessary. Compatibility extends to earlier HKIII / HK 4025 motors, although minor modification may be required. Weight including packaging is 37g.
