The Scorpion HKII-4530 Shaft Kit XL (6mm 55mm) is a factory replacement shaft kit and the stock shaft option for HKII-4530 helicopter motors. The HKII-45 series uses 10mm hardened steel shafts; this shaft has a pinion end reduced to 6mm with a length of 55mm. A flat on that end allows installation of the required pinion. If necessary, the shaft can be shortened using a Dremel tool and a cut-off wheel. Weight including packaging is 78g.
The shaft fits into the aluminum motor front housing with a slight press fit. Removing the set screws alone does not free it to slide out: removal requires an arbor press, with the front housing supported in a block of wood to prevent warping. This HKII shaft also fits previous motor versions such as HK-45 series motors, although some minor modification may be required when fitting it to those earlier versions.
