The Scorpion HK-4540 Shaft Kit XL (6mm 50mm) supplies a factory replacement shaft for HK-4540 series helicopter motors following shaft bending or breakage. The hardened steel shaft has a 10mm main diameter and an extended length of 122mm. Its pinion end is ground down to 6mm for installation of 6mm pinion gears. Integration therefore depends on the main shaft dimensions and the reduced pinion interface. The product is a motor replacement component, with a packaged weight of 62g.
Fit also extends to other brushless motors that require a 10mm shaft of this length. Where necessary for those motors, the shaft can be shortened using a Dremel tool and cut-off wheel. In Scorpion motors, the shaft forms a slight press fit within the aluminum front housing, so removing the setscrews alone does not release it. Extraction requires a bearing press or drill press, with the front housing supported in a block of wood to prevent the housing from warping.
