The HOBBYWING Platinum 60A V4 controls brushless motors in 450-480 class helicopters with 325-360mm main blades. Its electronics combine a 72MHz, 32-bit processor, adjustable motor governing, DEO active freewheeling and a built-in switch-mode BEC for servo power. It accepts 3-6S LiPo input and carries continuous/peak current ratings of 60A/80A. The BEC output specification is 5-8V, 7A; its adjustable output is also described as providing over 7A continuously and 18A peak. The controller measures 48.0x30.0x15.5mm and weighs 49g.
Integration must accommodate the controller body, two 100mm 14AWG input leads and three 75mm 14AWG output leads. The connection configuration has no input connectors and uses female 3.5mm gold output connectors. Programming supports an LCD program box, WiFi module or OTA programmer through the program/throttle wire interface. Transmitter, LED program card and LED program box programming are unsupported. Firmware upgrades are supported, with upgrade methods including a multifunction LCD program box or a Wi-Fi module and Apple/Android phone app.
Four brake modes provide distinct control options: brake disabled, normal, proportional and reverse. Brake amount is adjustable in normal mode; proportional mode sets braking force according to throttle-stick position. Reverse mode changes motor rotation through a spare transmitter channel. Protection functions cover ESC and capacitor temperature, ESC overload, throttle-signal loss and low-voltage cutoff. Recorded flight data include minimum voltage, maximum temperature and standardized RPM, with a speed curve available in Heli Governing Store mode. A separate programming port provides access for programming and checking recorded data.
