Product overview

The Benewake TF-NOVA is a line-beam LiDAR proximity sensor for obstacle detection in robots, AGVs and industrial automation systems. A single static sensor provides a specified field of view of 14° horizontal × 1° vertical, with a detection zone 25 cm wide at a distance of 1 m in one measurement. This arrangement offers horizontal coverage without mechanical scanning or a multi-sensor array. Installation requires confirmation with Benewake because the light spot is also specified as vertical.

Measuring 26.5 × 21.05 × 12 mm, TF-NOVA supports UART, I²C and configurable I/O output, with standalone and networked operation. I/O output mode can reduce the host system's data-processing workload. Native support for the PX4 and Ardupilot flight-control ecosystems provides another integration option. Its measurement range is 0.1–14 m, with a frequency of 1–900 Hz. The specified accuracy of ±5 cm applies at distances of 0.1–4 m; it should not be extended to the full measurement range.

TF-NOVA is intended for indoor and outdoor proximity sensing, including robot obstacle avoidance and vehicle-door obstacle detection. It can detect targets as small as 5 cm at 10% reflectivity within 2 m under direct sunlight up to 100 klux. These conditions distinguish small, dark-target detection from its overall 14 m range. Operating temperature is −25 °C to +70 °C. The lens is waterproof, but the module comes without an enclosure, and power consumption remains TBD.
