The Scorpion HKIII-5035 Shaft Kit XL (8mm 50mm) is a factory replacement shaft kit for Scorpion helicopter motors, intended for repairs following shaft bending or breakage. The extended shaft measures 10mm in diameter and 125mm in length. Its pinion end is ground down to 8mm to accept 8mm pinion gears. This configuration provides the replacement motor shaft and its gear interface. The specified weight is 64g including packaging. Scorpion identifies the original HKIII-5035 motor shafts as hardened steel.
Integration with other brushless motors is conditional on their requiring a 10mm shaft of this length; the shaft can be shortened with a Dremel tool and cut-off wheel where necessary. In Scorpion motors, the shaft has a slight press fit in the aluminum front housing. Removing the setscrews does not let it slide out. Removal requires a bearing press or drill press, with the front housing supported in a block of wood to prevent the housing from warping.
