The Scorpion HKII-2221 Shaft Kit (3.5mm) provides a factory replacement shaft for HK-2221 series motors used in newer T-450 helicopters. Its purpose is to replace a shaft bent or broken during a landing. The component uses hardened steel, with a 4mm main diameter and an overall length of 58.7mm. Its pinion end is ground down to 3.5 mm, giving the shaft two specified diameters for integration with the motor and pinion arrangement.
Installation and removal depend on the shaft’s slight press fit into the motor’s aluminum front housing. Removing the setscrews does not release the shaft for sliding removal: a bearing press or drill press is required, with the front housing supported in a block of wood to prevent warping. The shaft can be shortened using a Dremel tool and cut-off wheel when necessary to fit other motors. Weight including packaging is 9.1g.
