The Scorpion HKII-2221-8 is a brushless motor intended primarily for helicopter and ducted fan propulsion. Its construction combines CNC-machined, gold-anodized aluminum alloy parts with an epoxy-coated stator using 0.2mm laminations. The winding uses an 8 Turn Delta arrangement, with nine stator arms and six magnet poles. Integration dimensions include a 27.9 mm outside diameter, 38.3 mm body length and 3.17 mm shaft diameter; overall shaft length is 58.7 mm. Motor weight is 81 Grams. Electrical specifications include 3595 RPM / Volt, a maximum 3s LiPo configuration, 45 Amps maximum continuous current and 475 Watts maximum continuous power.
The supplied package contains one motor, three female connectors, three heat-shrink pieces and four M3 screws; 3.5mm male bullet connectors are already attached to the motor. Propeller installations require a separately purchased adapter for the 3.17mm shaft. Installation must leave sufficient clearance between the pinion and main gear to prevent binding. Bearings require periodic replacement and a small drop of oil every 5-6 flights. The two-year materials and workmanship warranty excludes bearings and motor damage resulting from bearing failure. Winding wire is rated at 180 degrees C, while the magnets can withstand up to 200 degrees C.
