The Scorpion HKII-2208-28 is a brushless motor intended primarily for helicopter and ducted fan installations. Its construction combines CNC-machined, gold-anodized aluminum alloy parts with an epoxy-coated stator using 0.2mm laminations. The electromagnetic arrangement has nine stator arms, six magnet poles and a 28 Turn Delta winding made from 7-Strand 0.19mm wire. Winding wire is rated at 180 degrees C (356 F), while the magnets withstand up to 200 degrees C (392 F); these ratings apply to those components.
Installation space must accommodate a 27.9 mm (1.098 in) outside diameter, 25.3 mm (0.996 in) body length and 45.7 mm (1.80 in) overall shaft length. The shaft diameter is 3.17 mm (0.125 in), and motor weight is 39 Grams (1.38oz). Electrical specifications include 3125 RPM / Volt, a maximum 3s LiPo cell count, 18 Amps maximum continuous current and 200 Watts maximum continuous power. No-load current is 1.15 Amps at 10 volts; motor timing is 5deg and drive frequency is 8kHz.
The supplied package contains one motor, three female connectors, three heat-shrink pieces and four M3 screws; 3.5mm male Bullet connectors are already attached to the motor. A propeller installation requires a separately purchased adapter for the 3.17mm shaft because no prop adapter is included. Geared installations need sufficient pinion-to-main-gear clearance to prevent binding. Bearings require periodic maintenance and replacement, including a small drop of oil on each bearing every 5-6 flights. The two-year materials-and-workmanship warranty excludes bearings and motor damage resulting from bearing failure.
