The Scorpion A2-4010-900kv is a BLDC propulsion motor intended for 49-inch acrobatic airplanes and other airframes requiring up to 1350w. Its specified motor constant is 580 RPM / Volt. The electromagnetic assembly uses a 40 mm diameter, 10 mm thick stator with 12 arms, 14 magnet poles and a 7+8T Delta winding. Construction incorporates 0.2mm silicon steel stator sheets and enamel-coated copper wire windings rated above 200C+. This is a motor package for installation in an airframe.
Installation requires space for a 48.8mm x 33.3mm motor body plus a 6.0mm prop spacer, with a 6mm external shaft. The motor weighs 154.9g alone or 175.1g with its mount and prop mounting accessories. The package includes a stock A-40 cross mount, four M3 mounting bolts, three female 4mm connectors, three heat-shrink pieces, twelve 3x16x1 thrust shims, an M8 nut and prop washer, and three stickers. Recommended integration components are Scorpion 13x7 or 14x7 Polymer propellers for 4s operation and the Tribunus III 06-80A ESC SBEC.
Continuous ratings are 66A and 950 Watts, with continuous current subject to power-percentage reduction factors. Peak current is 94A; peak power is 1350 Watts for intermittent full-throttle use lasting 10–180 seconds, depending on use case and cooling. The maximum rated LiPo configuration is 4s, although higher cell counts are possible with smaller propellers. Electrical characteristics include 2.56 Amps no-load current at 15V, 18.13 mΩ phase-to-phase resistance, and 16.95 µH phase-to-phase inductance measured at 1kHz.
