The RadioMaster AX12 Android Radio Controller combines radio control, telemetry viewing and compatible Android applications in a handheld transmitter. Its single internal LR1121 ExpressLRS module operates at 2.400GHz or Sub-G 900MHz, with up to 16 channels depending on the receiver. Channel mapping, mixing, adjustable weights and offsets, and 12-point custom curves support configurable control arrangements. An eight-core processor, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage provide the computing hardware. HDMI input displays video from compatible digital video systems, while HDMI output can mirror or extend the display to a TV or projector.
The controller measures 171 × 168 × 73 mm and weighs 640g. Its 5.5-inch HD IPS touchscreen combines 1280 × 720 resolution with 1,000 nits brightness. X5 Hall-effect gimbals have removable, storable sticks. Additional controls comprise four three-position switches, two two-position latching shoulder buttons, two analog scroll wheels and a programmable six-position button; switches and analog controls are software-mappable. A built-in speaker and 3.5 mm headphone jack provide audio output. Two built-in 3.7V 21700 lithium batteries provide approximately 10,000 mAh total capacity, and charging requires a USB Power Delivery-compatible supply.
Integration options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C charging/data and Wi-Fi MAVLink passthrough for compatible applications and supported workflows. The Nano module bay supports compatible ExpressLRS modules, but external STM32-based RF modules are unsupported. Android 9.0 cannot be updated; the internal RF module separately supports Wi-Fi OTA firmware updates. The supplied controller package includes a carry case, one Type-A to Type-C cable, one Type-C to Type-C cable, a screen protector, a 1.5mm hex wrench, four low-tension gimbal springs, two gimbal dust covers, a sticker set, a manual and an inventory card.
