Product overview
The JOUAV MG-150E EO/IR/LR Gimbal Camera is a two-axis airborne observation payload combining an optical camera, thermal sensor, and laser rangefinder. Designed for JOUAV drones, its stated compatibility includes the CW-25E, CW-25H, CW-30E, and CW-80E. Civilian applications include search and rescue, environmental monitoring, forest fire prevention, traffic inspection, and security monitoring. Automatic moving-object tracking is intended to guide the aircraft and keep a target centered in the video, while geolocation provides position output for the viewed object and aircraft. The payload also supports storage and download of video, photographs, and POS data.
The optical camera has a specified resolution of 1920 × 1080, with 30× continuous optical zoom over a 4.3–129 mm focal-length range and a horizontal field of view of 1.1°–63.7°. The thermal camera is specified at 640 × 512, operating in the 8–14 μm band with a 50 mm F1.0 lens and a 14.6° × 11.7° field of view. Thermal imaging is intended to help locate missing or trapped people and animals at night or in low visibility. All published performance figures, including imaging and ranging values, are theoretical values obtained by JOUAV’s internal laboratories under particular test conditions. Actual performance varies with product configuration, software version, application conditions, and environmental factors.
The 1535 nm laser rangefinder has a specified measurement accuracy of ±1 m and a measurement frequency of 1 Hz. Its applicable range remains uncertain: the product description gives up to 3000 m, while the technical specification gives 50–5000 m. The stabilization descriptions also differ, identifying pitch and roll in the overview but azimuth and pitch. The latter specify N × 360° azimuth rotation and pitch travel from -110° to +10°. These conflicting descriptions leave the ranging limit and mechanical arrangement unresolved for a selected installation.
