The HOBBYWING Platinum 80A V5, product number 30203201, is a standard-voltage brushless electronic speed controller for 325-420 class electric helicopters with 325-420mm main rotor blades, and small or medium electric fixed-wing aircraft. Its body measures 60.5 × 33 × 17.6mm excluding the fan and weighs 77.5g including wires but excluding the fan. The PLATINUM V5 cooling structure uses airflow generated during aircraft movement. Control electronics combine a 32-bit processor, an optimized governor algorithm and synchronous rectification.
The controller accepts 3-8S LiPo batteries and is rated at 80A continuous and 120A peak. Supplied wiring comprises one red and one black 12AWG power lead, each 100mm long, plus three black 14AWG output leads of 100mm each. It has no power connector; the output connectors are 3.5mm female gold connectors. Its built-in programmable switch-mode BEC adjusts from 5-12V, with an output rating of 8A continuous and 20A momentary. A separate BEC maximum-output figure is up to 25A.
Configuration interfaces include a dedicated programming port, support for an LCD programming box and an OTA Bluetooth wireless module, and online firmware upgrades. Transmitter parameter programming, LED setting cards and LED programming boxes are unsupported. Telemetry supports Mikado VBar and Futaba S.Bus2, with remote parameter adjustment supported through the VBar protocol. Protective functions address startup, current, temperature, overload, loss of the throttle signal, capacitor temperature and abnormal input voltage. These functions accompany the controller’s motor-control and onboard BEC hardware.
