Product overview

The FlashHobby Spaceman 60A ESC, item 30060, provides brushless motor speed control for airplane and helicopter installations. Its electrical configuration combines the speed controller with a switching BEC delivering 5 V / 5 A. At 59.4 g and 77 × 35 × 14 mm, it gives aircraft integrators a defined component mass and installation envelope. The controller has a 2–6S battery range, with BEC output capability specified for 6–8 servos in that configuration. Continuous current is 60 A; the 80 A burst rating applies for no more than 10 seconds.

Throttle signal refresh rates span 50–432 Hz, while programmable settings cover braking, battery type, low-voltage protection, startup and motor timing. Battery selection offers LiPo and NiMH. Soft Cut-Off reduces output power gradually, whereas Cut-Off stops it immediately. Lithium cell count is calculated automatically, with Low, Medium and High thresholds of 2.85, 3.15 and 3.3 V per cell. NiMH protection instead uses 0%, 50% or 65% of initial pack voltage; selecting 0% disables low-voltage cutoff. These settings define how the controller responds as battery voltage falls.

Normal startup is suited to fixed-wing aircraft and has a listed time of 300 ms. Helicopter-oriented Soft and Super-Soft modes take 1.5 and 3 seconds respectively from initial throttle advance to full throttle. If the throttle stick is moved fully to the bottom position and then reopened to the top position within three seconds after the first startup, restart temporarily changes to Normal mode. Motor timing offers Low at 3.75°, Medium at 15° and High at 26.25°; Low is usually suitable for most motors, while High can be selected for higher speed.
