DJI AL1 Spotlight

The DJI AL1 Spotlight is an aircraft-mounted lighting payload compatible with DJI Matrice 4TD/4D and Matrice 4T/4E aircraft. It provides continuous illumination and flashing modes, with selectable gimbal following, and can operate alone or together with the DJI AS1 Speaker. Wide-field illumination expands coverage through offset gimbal positioning. This function is linked to camera zoom and works only with the wide-angle camera at 1x zoom; all devices must have the latest firmware to use it.

The AL1 has a maximum power of 32 W. DJI reports illuminance of 4.3 ± 0.2 lux at 100 m and 17 ± 0.2 lux at 50 m, measured in a laboratory at an ambient temperature of 25°C with the spotlight installed alone on the aircraft. DJI specifies effective illumination areas at 100 m of 1,300 square metres in normal mode and 2,200 square metres in wide-field mode, both at 10% relative illuminance. The spotlight has an IP55 protection rating and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 50°C.

Installation uses quick-release hand-tightened screws that must be tightened to secure the payload and seal the connection; dock operation requires additional tightening with the supplied hex key. Matrice 4D series aircraft do not require the mounting bracket. After installation, connect online and follow the activation prompts; the installed spotlight receives firmware updates alongside the aircraft. On Matrice 4T and Matrice 4E aircraft, mounting the AL1 reduces left and right obstacle avoidance performance and affects propulsion performance and endurance; switching it on automatically disables obstacle avoidance. Avoid directing the beam into people's eyes and handle the light carefully after prolonged operation because it becomes hot. Reducing brightness and using the light only as needed helps limit its effect on flight time.
