The DY8 Eagle X8 from Shenzhen Al Fly Technology Co., Ltd is a multipurpose, medium-sized eight-rotor UAV with a portable structure for quick deployment and stowage. It can carry optoelectronic pods for inspection tasks, while other payload configurations support transport and payload release, relay operations or tethered tasks. Its basic package provides the aircraft body, propellers, battery, camera, image transmission equipment, remote control, display screen and basic charger for basic flight operations. Inspection pods and other task-specific equipment are optional additions.
The DY8 has a specified total takeoff weight of 41.6 kg, a service ceiling of 5000 m, a maximum speed of 80 km/hr and a maximum range of 25 km. Endurance is 18–60 minutes depending on load. Optional GPS, optical flow and laser altitude equipment enhance positioning and navigation, supporting altitude holding, fixed-point positioning, automatic return and flight inside buildings. Optional infrared cameras and Multi-light Optoelectronic Pods support searching at night and in adverse weather. Fiber-optic and integrated fiber-optic/wireless communication equipment are also available for control under electromagnetic interference and denial conditions. These additional functions depend on the equipment fitted.
