The Scorpion HKIV-4025 Shaft Kit (5mm 31mm) provides a factory replacement shaft for HKIV-4025 helicopter motors. Its intended applications include the Mikado Logo 550 and other helicopters requiring a 5mm shaft. The motor series uses an 8mm hardened steel shaft architecture, while this shaft's pinion end is ground down to 5mm. A flat spot provides the mounting interface for the required pinion, which the user installs. This is a motor component kit rather than a flight platform or airframe.
Mechanical integration requires attention to both shaft length and the motor housing. The shaft can be shortened with a Dremel tool and cut-off wheel if necessary. Its slight press fit in the aluminum front housing means removing the set screws does not release it for sliding removal. Extraction requires an arbor press, with the housing supported in a block of wood to prevent warping. Earlier HKIII / HK 4025 motors are also compatible, although minor modification may be required.
