Product overview
The Scorpion HKII-2221-6 is a brushless motor intended primarily for helicopter and ducted fan installations. Its architecture combines a nine-arm stator, six magnet poles and a 6 Turn Delta winding using 20-Strand 0.21mm wire. CNC-machined aluminum alloy parts receive a gold-anodized finish, while the stator uses epoxy-coated 0.2mm laminations. The winding wire is rated at 180 degrees C (356 F), and the magnets withstand up to 200 degrees C (392 F); these ratings apply to the respective materials.
Integration dimensions include a 27.9 mm (1.098 in) outside diameter, 38.3 mm (1.508 in) body length and 3.17 mm (0.125 in) shaft diameter, with an overall shaft length of 58.7 mm (2.311 in). Motor weight is 81 Grams (2.86 oz). Electrical specifications include 4400 RPM / Volt, a maximum 3s LiPo configuration, 52 Amps maximum continuous current and 525 Watts maximum continuous power. Motor timing is 5deg and drive frequency is 8kHz; no-load current is 2.89 Amps at 10 volts.
The supplied configuration comprises one motor with attached 3.5mm male bullet connectors, three female connectors, three heat-shrink pieces and four M3 screws. Propeller installation requires a separately purchased adapter for a 3.17mm shaft (1/8 inch). Installation also requires sufficient clearance between the pinion and main gear to prevent binding. Bearing care calls for a small drop of oil on each bearing every 5-6 flights and periodic replacement. The two-year materials and workmanship warranty excludes bearings and motor damage resulting from bearing failure.
