The Scorpion HK-4015-1070KV is a brushless motor developed for 500 class electric helicopters using 425 to 450mm blades and an 8s LiPo setup. Its electromagnetic assembly combines a 40 mm stator diameter, 15 mm stator thickness, 12 stator arms and eight magnet poles with a 12 Turn Delta winding. Construction includes gold-anodized, CNC-machined aluminum alloy parts and epoxy-coated stators with 0.2mm laminations. The winding wire carries a 180 degrees C (356 F) rating, while the magnets are rated for operation at 200 degrees C (392 F).
Mechanical integration requires space for a 48.9 mm outside diameter, 41.5 mm body length and 73.7 mm overall shaft length. Motor weight is 215 Grams (7.58 oz). The shaft uses a 6mm main section reduced to a nominal 5mm output for pinion gears; the dimensional specification gives a shaft diameter of 4.98 mm (0.19 in). Electrical limits are 65 Amps and 1900 Watts continuously, with 85A and 2450 Watts permitted for five seconds. Motor timing is 5deg and drive frequency is 8kHz.
The supplied package contains one motor, three female connectors, three heat-shrink pieces and four M3 screws; 4mm male bullet connectors are already attached to the motor. A propeller installation requires a separately purchased adapter for a 5mm shaft. Installation also requires sufficient clearance between the pinion and main gear to avoid binding. Bearings need periodic replacement and a small drop of oil every 5–6 flights. The two-year materials and workmanship warranty excludes bearings and subsequent motor damage caused by bearing failure.
