Product overview
The Scorpion HK-3226-1400KV is a brushless propulsion motor intended for 500 class electric helicopters using 425–450mm blades. Its physical construction combines CNC-machined aluminum alloy parts with a gold-anodized finish, epoxy-coated stators and 0.2mm stator laminations. The electromagnetic assembly uses 12 stator arms, 10 magnet poles and a five-turn delta winding made from 28-strand 0.23mm wire. The winding wire carries a temperature rating of 180 degrees C (356 F); this is a wire rating, rather than a specified operating temperature for the complete motor.
Installation space must accommodate a 40.9mm outside diameter, 50.5mm body length and 75.5mm overall shaft length. The shaft diameter is specified as 4.98mm, and motor weight is 239 grams. Electrical limits are a maximum 6s LiPo configuration, 80 amps continuous current and 1770 watts continuous power. Peak ratings rise to 105A and 2330 watts for two seconds. The motor has a 1400Kv speed constant, with motor timing specified at 5 degrees and drive frequency at 8kHz.
The supplied configuration contains one motor, three female connectors, three pieces of heat shrink and four M3 screws. Attached 4mm male bullet connectors connect through the matching female connectors supplied for the speed controller. Propeller installation requires a separately purchased adapter for a 5mm shaft. Installation also requires sufficient pinion-to-main-gear clearance to prevent binding. Bearings need periodic replacement and a small drop of oil every 5–6 flights. The two-year materials-and-workmanship warranty excludes bearings and subsequent motor damage caused by bearing failure.
