The HOBBYWING C8030 is an electric motor designed for cruise propulsion in fixed-wing and VTOL drones. It comes in C8030-160KV and C8030-190KV versions, both configured for 12S LiPo batteries, with a recommended single-motor aircraft takeoff weight range of 45–55kg. Propeller recommendations differ: the 160KV version accommodates 25x10, 26x12 and 27x12 propellers, while the 190KV version is recommended with 24x10 or 25x10 propellers. Both configurations are recommended with the XRotor Pro H200A 14S BLDC IPC speed controller.
The choice between versions depends on the intended propeller configuration and propulsion requirements. At 48V, the 160KV version has a specified maximum thrust of 30.4kg with a 27x12 propeller; the 190KV version reaches 24.7kg with a 25x10 propeller. These peak figures are distinct from the rated thrust of 10kg for each configuration. Maximum continuous output power is specified as 1430W and 1620W, respectively, and weight including wires is 1115g and 1126g. Maximum current ratings of 201A and 197A apply in a non-enclosed environment at an ambient temperature of 25°C or below.
The C8030 combines rectangular cooling outlets with a centrifugal fan and uses a three-bearing arrangement. Steel mesh at the motor base is designed to block foreign particles measuring 1mm or larger from entering through the intake. Its propeller mounting design accommodates conventional one-piece and folding propellers. An optional magnetic encoder assembly, used with a compatible propeller-locking speed controller, enables a configurable propeller stopping position to reduce the risk of ground contact. This stopping function depends on the additional encoder and controller configuration.
