Product overview
The HC-540 is a fixed-wing UAV platform that takes off and lands vertically. It uses a hybrid power system built around an aviation piston engine. The engine is air-cooled, two-cylinder, horizontally opposed and two-stroke, with direct drive. It provides power for climbing and a steady power supply to the mission systems for the whole flight. The engine runs on gasoline mixed with engine oil at a ratio of 50:1. The aircraft has a 40 L fuel tank, which gives an estimated flight time of up to 8 hours. Maximum payload is 30 kg, and the platform can fly fully autonomously.
The airframe has a universal mount, so it can carry different mission loads, and third-party custom payloads are supported. One compatible option is a dual-lens camera on a gyro-stabilized platform. It combines a high-resolution infrared camera, a 30x high-definition visible-light camera and a laser rangefinder with a range of up to 5 km. Another is a large two-axis, three-lens targeting camera with 30x optical zoom, a 640×512 infrared camera and a laser rangefinder with a range of up to 3 km. An airborne broadband base station is also available to restore communications after a disaster. The platform is aimed at electric power, oil and gas, and surveying and mapping work.
The flight control system combines the flight control computer with a micro-integrated GPS/INS navigation system. One-click functions cover automatic takeoff, landing, hovering, circling, return, altitude hold and parachute deployment. The aircraft can also cruise autonomously along planned routes in several patterns. Other control features include automatic flight beyond visual range, aircraft attitude control and switching flight modes during flight. Honeycomb's intelligent control software shows mission information and flight status in real time and gives one-click control of the aircraft.
