The HC-342H Pro is a complete multi-rotor flight platform, not an airframe-only kit. It is built for heavy-lift work that needs long flight times. A six-rotor layout is powered by a gasoline-electric hybrid system based on the GX-7 engine, which draws from a large 14L fuel tank. The fuel is gasoline mixed with engine oil at a 40:1 ratio. The headline ratings are a 15KG maximum payload and a 120min maximum endurance. No payload condition is attached to the endurance rating, so it should not be read as applying at the 15KG maximum. The airframe has a folding design for storage.
The airframe has a universal mounting interface, so one aircraft can be used for routine inspection, 2D/3D aerial survey, special equipment transport, reconnaissance and emergency response. Compatible payload options include single-, dual- and triple-lens electro-optical gimbals with 40x or 30x zoom, infrared imaging and AI tracking of people and vehicles. The triple-lens unit adds a laser rangefinder with a range of up to 1.5km. Other options are an oblique mapping camera, an orthophoto camera with microsecond synchronization to the gimbal, flight control and RTK, a multi-line LiDAR, an airborne nuclear spectrometer, and third-party custom payloads.
The flight control system handles hovering, autonomous takeoff and landing, waypoint route planning and automatic flight beyond visual range. Operators can switch between automatic and manual modes in flight and change the waypoint plan at any time through dual-control operation. Dual GPS and dual IMU units give the navigation system redundancy, and several no-fly zone restrictions are built in. An external digital radio can be connected. Optional accessories are a dual-antenna RTK positioning system, which supports BDS, GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO and accepts input from a self-built base station or network RTK, an H-RTK ground differential base station, and a dual-screen portable ground station with its own power supply.
