The HC-245 is a large-payload unmanned helicopter. It is built to deliver high power from a small body with low fuel consumption, and the complete aircraft offers a large payload capacity, long endurance and multiple mission roles. Its intended uses include delivering supplies, forest fire control, aerial mapping, security surveillance, scientific experiments, agriculture and forestry work, disaster monitoring, maritime patrol and military trials. It can fly beyond visual range, fly in a network with other aircraft and act as an aerial relay. It suits complex terrain, such as low-altitude flight over mountains and above the sea surface.
The helicopter has a 210cc engine that runs on either 92# gasoline or aviation kerosene, and it has a 16 L external fuel tank. It can carry up to 45 kg, and it is rated for 150 minutes of endurance with a 30 kg payload. The flight control system combines a flight control computer with a compact integrated GPS/INS navigation unit. It offers one-click automatic takeoff, landing, hovering, circling, return and altitude hold, and it can also deploy a parachute. It can fly several types of autonomous cruise along preset routes. Other listed flight-control functions are route planning, automatic beyond-visual-range flight, aircraft attitude control and switching flight modes in flight. Honeycomb's separate intelligent control software shows mission information and flight status in real time.
One mountable payload is a two-axis, triple-lens target-positioning camera for inspection, security, and emergency search and rescue. It combines a visible-light camera with 30x optical zoom, a 640x512 infrared camera and a laser rangefinder with a maximum range of 3 km. A high-precision gyro-stabilized platform allows it to work around the clock. The HC-245 also accepts third-party custom payloads.
