The DJI Zenmuse X7 is a detachable gimbal camera for professional aerial filmmaking, combining a Super 35mm sensor with DJI’s DL lens mount. Its 151 × 108 × 132 mm body weighs 449 g, providing concrete dimensions and mass for installation planning. The camera accepts four specified F2.8 lenses spanning 16mm to 50mm, with hood and balancing ring/filter configurations. Its controlled pitch, pan and roll ranges are narrower than its mechanical travel limits, a distinction relevant to planning camera movement.
Integration requires a compatible host: the X7 cannot operate independently and is incompatible with Inspire 1. With Inspire 2, CineCore 2.1 processes its video stream, while a MicroSD card remains mandatory even when optional CINESSD storage is used. CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes recording require the DJI Inspire 2 License Key and CINESSD. Recording choices also carry specific limits: unlimited RAW bursts reach up to 20fps subject to capacity and battery charge, high-frame-rate video narrows the field of view, and the 16mm lens lacks mechanical-shutter support.
