Product overview

The CUAV C-Compass CAN is an external heading-sensing component for unmanned systems. Its physical architecture combines an STM32F4 processor and RM3100 magnetic sensor in an aluminum-alloy housing, with a total weight of 13g. Magnetic filtering addresses interference associated with internal cables, batteries and motors. The electronics run CUAV’s M4C firmware architecture, which supports customized development. This configuration provides a dedicated compass component for integration into a larger unmanned system, with DroneCAN communication linking it to the controller.

Integration centers on a GHR-04V-S connector, a 4.75–5.3V supply and support for PX4 or ArduPilot controllers, including CUAV and Pixhawk examples. Communication rate is specified as 2Mb and refresh rate as 80Hz. Measurement specifications include a -800μT to +800μT range, 0.25° RMS accuracy, 0.05° repeatability and 0.01° resolution. Operating limits are -20 to +80°C and 5%–95% non-condensing humidity; these electrical and environmental limits define the conditions for incorporating the compass into a host system.
