Chinowing Technology Co., Ltd's VM21 is a digital video, data and RC link for UAV communications. It uses MESH networking to extend network coverage through self-organizing, adaptive network topologies. Its connections include full-duplex TTL/RS232 transparent serial communication supporting any baud rate, along with SBUS 2 and LAN1 signal interfaces. The unit has a black aluminum-alloy enclosure measuring 85 × 55 × 20 mm and weighs 100 g excluding the antenna.
The VM21 supports frequency bands of 806–826 MHz, 1427.9–1467.9 MHz and 2401.5–2481.5 MHz, with the 1.4 GHz band supplied as the factory-standard configuration. Its power range is -40 to 25 dBm, and its 1×2 MIMO antenna arrangement uses one transmit and two receive paths with 2–4 dBi rod antennas. Power enters through an XT30 connector, accepting DC 7.4–50 V from a 2–12S battery; operating current is 300 mA at 12 V. The operating temperature range is -20 to +65 °C. Single-point transmission distance reaches up to 10 km depending on the environment, with specified video delay below 300 ms.
