Product overview
The EV-PEAK U3 Neo is ground-support charging equipment for battery-intensive UAV and FPV work. It is not a flight platform or an airframe. It is aimed at agricultural, training, industrial and utility drones, as well as large FPV and cinelifter builds. It covers the full 2S–8S range and has native support for 7S packs, including 25.9V nominal 7S LiPo. Its 1500W power stage is sized for high-current charging of 6S, 7S and 8S packs. At the 4.5V-per-cell setting, an 8S pack needs 36V. At 40A that works out to 1440W, which is within the charger's rating on 220V AC.
Charging power can be used in two ways. A single battery can draw up to 40A. Alternatively, two batteries can charge at the same time at up to 20A and 750W per channel on 220V AC. Input power is an important limitation: on 110V AC, total output drops to about 750W. Full current is also only reached when the battery can accept the selected charge current. Selectable per-cell voltages run from 3.60V to 4.50V. Semi-solid-state packs can be charged only when the battery maker's specified per-cell voltage matches one of these settings.
The unit has active PFC on its AC input, protection against short circuits, over-voltage and over-current, and a single cooling fan. The main battery connection is XT90 and balancing uses JST-XH. For smart batteries that need to communicate with the BMS, an XT90I connector is available as a custom option. A color display and scroll wheel show pack and cell data. LiPo is the default chemistry, and saved settings start charging automatically after a countdown. A dedicated STORAGE button runs maintenance discharge at up to 30W, on only one channel at a time. The charger measures 230 × 155 × 118 mm and weighs 2.06 kg.
