Huizhou WES New Energy's 24S 70Ah pack is a high-voltage energy source for industrial multirotors. Its 24-cell series layout gives 86.4V and 70Ah, for a total of 6048Wh. The higher voltage lowers the current needed for a given power output, which reduces heat and electrical load on ESCs and motors. The pack is designed for heavy-lift hexacopters and octocopters carrying payloads of 100-200kg. Its intended applications are logistics, agriculture and emergency response.
The battery is rated for 140A continuous discharge (2C) and 70A charging (1C). It uses semi-solid-state cells, which offer better thermal stability than conventional LiPo. Built-in management features include a SOX algorithm that estimates state of charge and state of health, and a smart parallel function that balances multiple packs automatically when they are connected together. A one-key startup and soft-start are also provided. Dual short-circuit protection responds in under 100 microseconds. The pack also has active cell balancing, a cooling system and an IP54 rating.
The pack measures 361x203x262mm and weighs 22.5 KG. Integrators need to check that the frame has enough mounting space, structural capacity and center-of-gravity margin for this size and weight. The operating range is -20°C to 70°C. Cycle life is 300+ cycles at 80% capacity, which should be included in fleet replacement planning. Very low self-consumption allows the pack to sit in storage for a full year without maintenance.
