The Powerfly Programmable Drone is an indoor formation flight teaching system supplied as a complete classroom set with multiple aircraft. It is made up of flight, positioning, communication, power supply and lighting subsystems. Each aircraft has a 165 mm wheelbase, measures 190 mm × 190 mm × 82 mm and weighs 190 g. An ultralight shell made of high-quality PVC fully encloses the aircraft as a protective guard. Flight power comes from a lithium polymer battery rated at no less than 1500 mAh. Onboard sensors include TOF altitude holding, a barometer, a gyroscope, an accelerometer and a magnetometer, along with a wireless positioning module.
The system can be used indoors and outdoors. Indoors, where there is no GPS signal, dedicated equipment is needed to position the aircraft. Mobile terminals can connect to the base stations in at least two ways, and in complex network environments a relay device handles communication between the drones. The effective signal range is 20 m. The minimum spacing is 0.3 m both in the air and at ground takeoff. Maximum ascent speed is 1 m/s, and wind resistance is rated at 5.4 m/s. The LED effect lighting is rated at no less than 5 W and can be programmed to change in step with flight movements, so light and motion work together in a routine.
A visual programming system sets takeoff, landing, speed, flips and flight paths, which makes stunt sequences and swarm performances possible. Scratch and Python are supported for programming one drone or several. Formation flight is specified for at least 10 drones over a 4-minute performance. The included simulation software shows program results visually to make programming easier and lower flight risk, and an app on iOS or Android runs the swarm flights. The set contains 10 aircraft, 34 flight batteries, 10 multi-channel charging systems, 40 propeller sets, 80 screw sets, 4 base stations, 1 relay, a transport case and number stickers. Teaching materials include demonstration videos, training slides, lesson plans, manuals, course standards and report templates.
