The DJI Phantom 4 is a camera-equipped flight platform for aerial photography and video recording. Its composite airframe combines 800KV motors and 9450 quick-release propellers within a 350 mm wheelbase, weighing 1380 g with battery and propellers. The three-axis camera gimbal uses a dual-arm U-shaped pitch structure and incorporates magnesium alloy, with its control board housed inside the aircraft belly. Forward and downward vision systems complement GPS/GLONASS positioning. Visual operation requires richly textured surfaces and illumination above 15 lux.
The camera combines a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with 12.4 million effective pixels and an f/2.8 lens focused at infinity. It captures 4000×3000 photographs and records 4K video; 1920×1080 recording at 120fps narrows the camera field of view to 47°. A 16G Micro SD card is standard, with support extending to 64 GB using the specified card speed ratings. The controller provides USB video output and a phone or tablet holder with a maximum width of 170 mm. External HDMI output requires an additional module and a subsequent controller firmware update.
Maximum flight time is approximately 28 minutes in windless conditions near sea level at constant speed, with duration varying by environment and operation. Sport mode reaches 72 km/h, but gimbal mechanical limits prevent level forward viewing at maximum speed; downward pitch of at least 12° is recommended. Aircraft operation spans 0°C to 40°C, while battery charging requires 5°C to 40°C. Maximum controller signal distance is 5000 m under FCC settings or 3500 m under CE settings in unobstructed, interference-free conditions. Live-video resolution and latency depend on mobile-device performance and environmental interference.
