CUAV Nora flight controller

Product overview

The CUAV Nora flight controller connects positioning equipment, telemetry radios, radio control receivers, and motor or servo systems in drone installations. Its M1–M14 ports provide 14 PWM outputs, with M1–M12 also supporting DShot. CAN1/CAN2 connect Dronecan devices, while the GPS interface and UART4 provide options for positioning modules. TELEM1/TELEM2 support a telemetry system for communication with ground station software. A factory-installed SD card stores flight logs, and USB Type-C supports computer communication and firmware loading.

Nora requires controller power through POWER A, POWER C, or USB; its motor and servo output rail does not power the controller board. POWER A and POWER C accept 4.5–5.4 V, while USB accepts 4.75–5.25 V. Supplying all three inputs allows triple-redundant controller power. POWER A supports a power module with analog voltage and current detection and must not receive a digital power module. The servo interface is electrically isolated from the controller's internal supply, so connected servos require an external BEC when powered through that interface.

Installation requires attention to orientation and safety connections. The GPS module should sit away from other electronics and point toward the vehicle's front. If Nora is mounted in a different orientation, the actual orientation must be configured in the controller software. Operation without GPS requires a safety switch connected directly to GPS1 to arm and fly. CUAV designated Nora+ as Nora's replacement from January 1, 2022; Nora+ adds servo-port voltage monitoring and has different IMU sensor specifications, so those details should not be applied to the original Nora.
