Product overview
The CNHL AviNationRC Horten Ho 229 is a compact RC flying wing for pilots seeking responsive twin-EDF flight in a scale-inspired airframe. Its lightweight EPS structure spans 813mm and measures 360mm long. Two 35mm five-blade EDF units use 1311 5600KV brushless outrunners and separate 15A ESCs. Three 2.2g servos operate the two elevons and landing-gear steering. The thin airframe calls for careful handling, and its flight response makes it a less forgiving choice for a first aircraft.
Supplied as a PNP aircraft rather than an airframe-only kit, the Ho 229 requires a micro 4-6 channel receiver, which is not included. The receiver compartment measures 50 x 26 x 30mm in length, width and height, so receiver selection must account for that integration space. Receiver and battery placement deserve particular attention during setup. Ready-to-fly weight is 245-265g depending on battery, receiver and configuration, while the listed bare-airframe weight is 174g without battery.
The power system supports 3S and 4S batteries through XT30 connectors. Suggested capacities are 750mAh to 900mAh for 3S and 450mAh to 750mAh for 4S; 3S reduces thrust, while 4S increases thrust and acceleration. A starting timer of around 3 minutes 30 seconds applies to the recommended 550-750mAh 4S setup, with adjustment for throttle use. Removable, steerable landing gear supports runway operation, while gear removal permits hand launches and belly landings. The lower stability fin is required, and transmitter-configured differential thrust provides optional additional yaw control.
