Benewake’s TF03 is a third-generation TF-series LiDAR sensor intended for UAV ranging, intelligent transportation and security warning applications. Its architecture combines an optical system with signal-processing circuitry in a compact enclosure measuring 44 mm × 43 mm × 32 mm. The housing uses aluminum alloy and high-infrared-transmission glass, with protection reaching IP67. At 86 ± 3 g and a power consumption of ≤ 1 W, the enclosed configuration provides defined size, mass and power requirements for integration as a sensing component.
The TF03 has a measurement range of 0.1–180 m, a minimum blind-zone rating of 0.1 m and strong ambient-light resistance rated at 100 KLux. Its frequency specifications are inconsistent: the 1–9800 Hz range and separate maximum frame-rate rating of 7 kHz give different upper limits, leaving the definitive maximum unresolved. Integration options include UART, CAN, RS-232 and RS-485, selected to suit the application. Users can configure output frame rate, baud rate, trigger mode and the out-of-range threshold; a built-in bootloader supports local firmware upgrades.
Configuration selection affects the space and mass allocated to the sensor. The enclosed TF03 is distinct from a separate customized housing-free version weighing 10 g and measuring 31.0 mm × 30.2 mm × 19.2 mm. Those smaller dimensions and lower weight apply specifically to that housing-free configuration. A further customized version is designed for UAV applications. The product is a LiDAR component for integration into a larger system, rather than a supplied flight platform or airframe kit.
