Shandong Fengyun Agricultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd. was registered in 2009 and designs and develops small and medium-sized unmanned aircraft systems for industry applications. Based in Linyi, Shandong Province, its civilian applications include agricultural and forestry spraying and seeding, forest fire prevention, emergency disaster mitigation, environmental and meteorological work, and aerial photography and surveying. In 2012, the company attempted to develop a multirotor plant protection aircraft, followed in 2014 by the alloy-based Flying spider plant protection UAV.

The Flying spider entered the market at the end of 2015 after more than a year of testing and refinement. Designed for agricultural spraying, it combines alloy arms intended to improve durability with an X-shaped folding airframe that reduces the space needed for storage and transport. Centrifugal spray nozzles atomize the treatment liquid. Its entrepreneur mode and professional operation mode accommodate beginners learning to operate the aircraft and teams carrying out agricultural spraying. The aircraft also forms part of the company's smart farmland system, linking plant protection hardware with agricultural information management.

Developed alongside the aircraft, the smart farmland Internet of Things platform entered trial operation to collect, integrate and analyze agricultural information. Its intended functions include supporting resource allocation, coordinating agricultural services, and analyzing accumulated data for crop growth and pest and disease patterns. For aircraft connected to the platform, the system automatically captures operation data. Automatic downloading of flight data from the cloud for repeat operations was a capability under progressive development, intended to enable autonomous flight without repeating route planning.
