Company overview

Hebei Jixiangtong Electronic Technology was established in May 2015 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Hebei Expressway Group in August 2020. Its business combines traffic engineering, electronic toll collection services and smart transportation investment, construction, product development and manufacturing. This transportation technology background also encompasses big data applications and information communications resource leasing.

The company's aircraft development includes a compound-wing drone for routine road inspection. In a February 2024 report, Hebei Expressway Group stated that the first aircraft developed and produced by Jixiangtong had completed multiple flight demonstrations at Shenjing toll station, alongside a routine inspection exercise with the group's Xuanda branch. The company described the system as capable of autonomous traffic incident monitoring and automatic alerts, with applications in road condition patrols and protection of highway assets and rights of way.

The same report identified four unmanned intelligent products developed since 2023: highway bridge inspection and intelligent defect recognition, tunnel emergency response, compound-wing routine road inspection, and outdoor equipment cleaning. Their development stages differed. Automated road condition assessment, pavement defect detection and generation of treatment proposals were undergoing functional validation. Validation of autonomous incident monitoring and automatic alerts for the tunnel emergency drone was planned after the Spring Festival, with assistance for evacuation and refuge still being explored.
