PIESAT Information Technology Co., Ltd. develops software and services for spatial information applications. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Beijing, the company created PIE (Pixel Information Expert), which integrates remote sensing and geographic information, alongside the PIE-Engine cloud service platform. Its offering combines software products, system design and development, and remote sensing cloud services for governments, enterprises and universities. Its drone activities center on building a nationwide UAV production and service network as part of an integrated space, air and ground service system.
PIESAT's satellite activities include the planned Nuwa remote sensing constellation, designed to combine multiple levels and sensing modes. The first phase calls for 54 operational satellites, with the first four radar remote sensing satellites launched on March 30, 2023. Its civilian applications span natural resources, environmental protection, emergency management, meteorology, marine affairs, water resources and agriculture. Through consulting, system design, and remote sensing data analysis and processing, PIESAT supports public-sector monitoring and decision-making. It also provides aerospace data analysis and information services for finance and insurance, precision agriculture, energy and electricity, and transportation.
